Mount Massive

Mount Massive is Elberts Northern neighbor and the second highest peak in Colorado. Proceed cautiously on this 13.1-mile out-and-back. Generally considered a highly challenging route, it should only be attempted by experienced adventurers. This is a very popular area for backpacking, camping, and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through October.

There are other trailheads to get you to the top or attempt a loop. To get to the further trailhead, you will need a high clearance 4x4 vehicle.
